Hrag Papazian holds a D.Phil. degree in Anthropology from the University of Oxford. His dissertation, titled "Contesting Armenianness: Plurality, segregation, and multilateral boundary making among Armenians in contemporary Turkey", received the Prof. David Parkin Prize from the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography at the University of Oxford, and an honorary mention in the Society for Armenian Studies Distinguished Dissertation Award competition. As a PAI Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr. Papazian worked under the mentorship of Professor Salih Can Açiksoz of the UCLA Department of Anthropology. Papazian is currently the Turpanjian Early Career Chair in Contemporary Armenian Studies and Assistant Professor of Anthropology.
